At Viatape, we went to the visitor center where we saw many cannons ON the visitor center map (we needed the
extra motivation to continue looking).
Cary asked the visitor center guide how to get to the trail to Mount Pahia. They replied that a tourist had died recently while hiking to Mt Pahia so you are required to have a guide, blah, blah, blah.

So, we went to hike Mt Pahia. All of us started the hike.
Kyle found the city sign by a side street which stated that you shouldn't hike the Mountain. So we at least knew where to start. Some liked the hike better than others:
--- the drums by the races played all day and you could hear them from everywhere
--- we all enjoyed the chickens, cats, dogs, and friendly Tahitians (despite what Jerome said) along the way
Part way into the hike, some decided the day would be
better spent in town, others decided it was nice to just sit along the trail,
and others still continued on.
--- the boat key and $$$’s went with the ones who liked to hike, so we all enjoyed the day!
--- those that enjoyed Viatape did so by sleeping near the bathrooms with a friendly bottle...

--- those who enjoyed sitting by the path, got to listen to the pleasant "jungle" sounds and hung out by "the" rope.
Those who trudged on, enjoyed hiking through the rain to the top... To make it more challenging, Chels decided to hike barefooted. A true native...
--- Amazing views from the top of the jungle
Hanging out before the hike/slide back down!!!

Eventually, all got to enjoy the heat of the day before heading back to the boat..
Talked to an elder under a tree about how to get to the guns on the hill. He said it was a loooonnnng walk (500 meters) down past the Bora Bora Yacht Club and then you take "the" road on the right. With that, we started walking. After about a quarter mile he came by in his Toyota pickup. We were all reluctant, but Chelsea said we should all get in, so we did! He took us to "the" 4x4 road which led to the guns. From there we walked.
Apparently the cannons ARE REAL...
Success... Many cool pics and great views. Still want to see those babies fired!!!

It was a nice walk back to the dingy...
